A Day in the Life of an HVAC Tech: Keeping San Diego Cool

6:00 AM – Rise and Shine

The day begins early when you’re in the HVAC service industry. I grab my work uniform, down my coffee, and head to Jackson & Foster’s main office in La Mesa. Summer’s approaching, and we know it’s going to be a busy one.

7:00 AM – Morning Brief

Our team meets to review the day’s service calls. We’re looking at:
• Three AC repair appointments in El Cajon
• Two new system installations in Scripps Ranch
• Multiple maintenance checks across Lemon Grove

8:30 AM – First Call

My first stop is a routine maintenance check in Lakeside. These preventative services are crucial – they help avoid major breakdowns when temperatures soar. I check refrigerant levels, clean coils, and inspect electrical connections.

11:00 AM – Emergency Call

A restaurant in La Mesa needs immediate assistance with their cooling system. Commercial clients are priority cases – a failed AC can shut down business operations. After diagnosing a faulty capacitor, I’m able to get their system running again.

2:00 PM – Installation Project

The afternoon involves a new system installation in San Diego’s coastal area. Working with a partner, we carefully remove the old unit and install an energy-efficient replacement. These jobs require precision and attention to detail.

5:00 PM – Wrapping Up

Before heading back to base, I complete service reports and prepare for tomorrow. Every day brings different challenges, but keeping our communities comfortable makes it all worthwhile.

Being an HVAC technician at Jackson & Foster means being part of a team dedicated to maintaining comfort across San Diego County, one AC unit at a time.
